Americans love to fire up the grill during the long, warm summer evenings, but what are they putting over those flames? A new report by Innerbody Research analyzes Google Trends data nationwide, comparing search trends to see what’s on the menu at cookouts this grilling season.
The usual carnivore standards dominate the top ten, but shockingly veggies make a respectable showing, leading the ranking in eight states, and grilled fruit is top in two states - Ohio, where they’re searching for grilled peaches, while in Idaho, it’s grilled pineapple.
At number four, corn is America’s favorite grilled vegetable. “Grilled corn” searches nationwide beat out cookout staples like hot dogs and ribs. Asparagus is the only other veggie to crack the top 10, coming in tenth.
