Elwood’s Organic Dog Meat might look like a farm selling Labrador steaks, Pug bacon and even dog-milk cheese, but the whole thing is actually a deeply disturbing vegan advocacy campaign. Founder Molly Elwood created the fictional brand to make people question why eating dogs is shocking, but eating cows, pigs and chickens is totally normal. The project uses fake products, social media and plant-based “dog meat” samples at events to start conversations about animal welfare labels and the way meat is marketed. Elwood says the goal isn’t to shame people, but to get them to extend the compassion they already feel for pets to other animals.
