Pumpkins are good for more than decorating porches and making pies. Cleveland Clinic dietitian Beth Czerwony says they’re packed with nutrients, including vitamin A for eye health, fiber for digestion and antioxidants that help protect cells. Pumpkin is also low in calories and can be added to everything from soups and chili to oatmeal and pancakes, and roasted pumpkin seeds provide protein, healthy fats and magnesium. Just don’t confuse pumpkin-flavored treats with actual pumpkin, since many seasonal products are loaded with added sugar.
